Promesas y Traiciones receives Multimedia award from the Public Health Education and Health Promotion Materials Contest

The Public Health Education and Health Promotion section of the American Public Health Association has given the radio drama, Promesas y Traiciones, the award for the Multimedia category of the Public Health Education and Health Promotion Materials Contest. Dr. Marcela Frazier, assistant professor of optometry and Dr. Connie Kohler, professor of health behavior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health, were among the program developers receiving the award.  Promesas y Traiciones (Promises and Betrayals) was broadcast in the Birmingham area by a local Hispanic radio station. The program was produced by UAB faculty in collaboration with PCI Media Impact/Media for Health in New York City. The program is a serial drama that promotes obesity prevention and avoidance of second-hand smoke and was funded by the Jefferson County Department of Health.
