Paal Frisvold

Paal Frisvold is based in the EU capital where he is Managing Director and Partner of Geelmuyden Kiese Brussels, a Scandinavian public affairs company. From 2005 to 2013, Frisvold ran the Bellona Foundation’s European office, Bellona Europa aisbl, a leading European environmental NGO advocating energy and climate change mitigation policies. Frisvold was the elected leader of The European Movement of Norway in 2009, a political group advocating Norwegian membership of the EU, a position he held until 2013. Previously, Frisvold worked as advisor to the Secretary General of the European Free Trade Association, EFTA, for the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, as well as at the Commercial section of the Norwegian embassy in Beijing. Frisvold holds a Master degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins’ School of International Studies (1990) and a Bachelor degree from The American University of Paris (1986). He placed 11th in epee fencing for Norway in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984. He is married to Martine Hermans Frisvold, and has two daughters, Zoë (1995) and Ruby (1996).
