Fred Cohen

Fred Cohen, until his retirement in February 2002, served as President, King World International Productions and Executive Vice President of CBS Broadcast International. Mr. Cohen joined King World in 1989 as President of King World International, where he was responsible for the sale and production of TV programming and formats outside the United States including, among others, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, JEOPARDY!, and the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW. Fred currently serves as a strategic advisor to Harpo Productions on the international distribution of THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW, DR. OZ, and other Harpo projects, as well as a consultant to Slingo Inc., an international on-line casual game and TV production company. He is also on the Board of Directors of Hopskoch.com, a transmedia online marketing platform for brands. In addition, he is Chairman of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmys), and Chairman of its Foundation. He is also a Visiting Professor, Institute for Content & Technology Integration at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Tokyo, a leading Japanese University. From 1987 through 1989, Cohen was Executive Vice President, Sunbow Productions International, and Executive Vice President, Sunbow Productions, Inc., a children’s animation and worldwide TV distribution company. Mr. Cohen held several executive positions at HBO from 1980 through 1986. He was President of HBO International (London and New York), Senior Vice President of HBO Enterprises, and President of Time-Life Films. From 1978 through 1980, Cohen was President of his own international television distribution company. Previously he was several Director of Cultural Programs and International Coordinator at PBS Network in Washington, DC. Earlier he served In Washington as Special Assistant to a Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and later became Special Assistant to the FCC Chairman. Mr. Cohen received his Masters’ Degree in Film/Television and Communications Research from Stanford University, and his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Michigan.
